UCLA to host 'New Russian Cinema' film festival March 7
Featuring U.S. premiere of Cannes winner "Everybody Dies But Me"
WHAT:
The UCLA Department of Slavic Languages and Literature and the city of West Hollywood present "New Russian Cinema," a free, daylong film festival on the UCLA campus. The festival will feature the U.S. premiere of "Everybody Dies But Me," winner of the best debut award (Camera D'Or) at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, which Variety hailed as a "gritty, emotionally charged coming-of-ager" that "offers up a bare-bones portrait of adolescent angst in the violent suburbs of Moscow."
Additional screenings will include a variety of animation and documentary shorts. Films will be shown in Russian with English subtitles. For a complete list of films and screening times, visit www.farfrommoscow.com (click on "Russian Festival").
WHEN:
Saturday, March 7 (noon to 8 p.m.)
- New Russian animation: noon–1:30 p.m.
- New Russian documentaries: 2–4:30 p.m.
- Feature film: 6–7:30 p.m. ("Everybody Dies But Me," directed by Valeria Gai Germanika)

COST | INFORMATION:
Admission is free, parking is $9. David MacFadyen, chair of the UCLA Department of Slavic Languages and Literature, is the event organizer and will serve as the festival emcee.
Work by renowned Los Angeles designer Nataya will be displayed in the theater foyer. Between films, acoustic music will be provided by Moscow-born musician Aleksei Kiskachi.
PARKING:
From Hilgard Avenue, enter the campus at Wyton Drive. Turn right on Charles E. Young Drive East. Signs will direct you to Parking Lot 3 ($9).
