UCLA Theater Department presents 'A Mouthful of Birds'

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's department of theater presents "A Mouthful of Birds," Caryl Churchill and David Lan's 1986 play-with-dance about passion, madness and female violence, which draws on themes from Euripides "The Bacchae." Directed by second-year M.F.A. student Efrain Schunior, with choreography by graduate dance student Kingsley Irons, the UCLA production is part of the department's annual theatrical season showcasing the work of faculty and students.

UCLA presents annual entertainment design showcase

The sixth annual Design Showcase West at UCLA, the only national entertainment design showcase on the West Coast, will feature the work of students graduating from the nation's top university design programs.

Art, science or both? MoMA in N.Y. shows work by UCLA scientists

When UCLA scientists Thomas G. Mason and Carlos J. Hernandez designed and mass-produced billions of fluorescent microscale particles in the shapes of all 26 letters of the alphabet, they thought they had produced significant science. The Museum of Modern Art in New York says it's also art, and a sample of their work is on display through May 12 as part of MoMA's "Design and the Elastic Mind."

Papua New Guinea ceramics exhibition opens at Fowler May 25

In "Fowler in Focus: Ceramics of Papua New Guinea" — on view May 25 through Sept. 28 — visitors can see more than 30 fine examples of these ceramic works from Papua New Guinea, including bowls used for food preparation and serving, incised ceremonial vessels, figurative ceramics and ornaments for the gables of houses.
