UCLA plans chancellor's formal inauguration

WHAT:
Gene D. Block will be formally installed as UCLA chancellor during an inauguration ceremony that will include a procession featuring colorful academic regalia, musical performances, remarks by University of California and UCLA leaders, and an inaugural address by Block.
 
WHEN:
Tuesday, May 13 (procession begins at 9:45 a.m.; program from 10 to 11:30 a.m.)
 
WHERE:
Royce Hall on the UCLA campus
 
WHO:
University of California President Robert C. Dynes will perform the ceremony of installation. Basketball legend and UCLA alumnus Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will deliver brief keynote remarks. Also scheduled to make brief remarks are University of California Board of Regents Chairman Richard C. Blum, Los Angeles City Councilman Jack Weiss and faculty, student, staff and alumni representatives. Some 300 people are expected to participate in the procession, including leaders of several other top universities.

Due to limited seating, journalists should R.S.V.P. to the Office of Media Relations by Monday, May 12.
 
PARKING:
Parking is available by arrangement after R.S.V.P.
