Biography
Daniel J.B. Mitchell, professor emeritus at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and distinguished professor of public policy at the UCLA School of Public Affairs, is a frequently quoted authority on issues involving the California state budget, labor unions, wages, downsizing, outsourcing, and benefits and compensation.
His research and writing has focused on such topics as union wage determination, wage-price controls, the impact of international trade on wages, education and the labor market, child labor laws, profit sharing, concession bargaining, and the state budget process, among others. He is the author of "Pensions, Politics, and the Elderly: Historic Social Movements and Their Lessons for Our Aging Society" (2000).
Mitchell has served as a consultant to the Congressional Budget Office, the Federal Reserve Board, the President's Council on Wage and Price Stability, the U.S. Department of Labor and the International Labour Organisation.
