Scott Brandenberg, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, specializes in geotechnical earthquake engineering with a focus on the behavior of pile foundations in liquefied and laterally spreading ground. He is part of a team developing design guidelines that will be used by the California Department of Transportation for the design of bridges in liquefied and laterally spreading ground and to evaluate existing bridges for retrofit.
