UCLA presents new film on U.S. health care crisis, panel discussion
Screening of 'Critical Condition' precedes doc's PBS premiere on Sept. 30
WHAT:
What happens if you fall sick and are one of 47 million Americans without health insurance? UCLA will present a free screening of "Critical Condition," a new documentary by Roger Weisberg that puts a human face on the nation's growing health care crisis, capturing the struggles of four critically ill Americans who discover that being uninsured can cost them their jobs, their health, their homes, their savings and even their lives. "Critical Condition" is a production of Public Policy Productions, in association with Thirteen/WNET New York and American Documentary | P.O.V.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by the UCLA School of Public Health and the UCLA Health System.

- Dr. Patrick Dowling, chair of the UCLA Department Family Medicine (featured in the documentary)
- Dr. David Feinberg, CEO of the UCLA Hospital System
- Dr. Gerald S. Levey, vice chancellor of UCLA Medical Sciences
- Mary Mazur, executive vice president for programming and production at KCET–Los Angeles
- Dr. Felix Nunez, vice president of clinical services at the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County
- Ninez Ponce, associate professor of health services at the UCLA School of Public Health and senior research scientist at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research
- Dr. Robert Ross, president and CEO of the California Endowment
