Filming on Campus

News and Documentaries

Most exterior areas of the Westwood campus are accessible to the media, but reporters, editors and news crews are encouraged to contact a media relations representative prior to filming or photographing exterior locations. Limitations on filming or photography may occur when such activity is likely to disrupt students, faculty or staff.

Prior clearance is required to conduct interviews, film or photograph inside campus buildings, offices and classrooms, or in any other interior or exterior area that is restricted. Please contact the Office of Media Relations at (310) 825-2585 to obtain assistance from a media relations officer.

Commercial Filming

Prior approval from the UCLA Events Office is required to conduct commercial filming or photography on the UCLA campus. Production companies and location scouts should contact the Events Office at (310) 825-8989 or refer to the Events Office Web site at www.events.ucla.edu/events/film.htm for information on clearance and permits.

Certain scripts that contain references to UCLA may require review by appropriate offices at UCLA, including the Office of the Campus Counsel.
