Cotsen Institute of Archaeology presents annual open house May 10

The world-famous Cotsen Institue of Archaeology at UCLA, where 75 working archaeologists analyze and store their findings, invites the public to its annual open house. Among other attractions, visitors can ponder the actual tools that gave the Stone Age its name, witness a technique for identifying ancient diets using the bones of contemporary animals and discover how charcoal is used to deduce the agricultural practices of the past.

Tap legend Lynn Dally brings together four generations for "Women in Tap" at UCLA's Glorya Kaufman Hall, Feb. 8-10

Tap-dancing legend Lynn Dally first made history as co-founder of the Jazz Tap Ensemble, the first dance company to bring rhythm tap dance to the concert stage with live jazz music. Now, Dally - artistic director of the ensemble and an adjunct professor in the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures - is gathering 21 women who are making a difference in the world of tap dance for a three-day conference called Women in Tap, to be held Feb. 8-10 at UCLA's Glorya Kaufman Hall.

UCLA presents film on trailblazing Asian American actress

UCLA's Asian American Studies Center will present the U.S. premiere of the documentary film "Anna May Wong — Frosted Yellow Willows: Her Life, Times, and Legend" on Jan. 19. Written, directed and produced by Elaine Mae Woo, the film is based on exclusive interviews with members of Wong's family, childhood friends, fellow artists and colleagues and features rare film footage secured from film archives, libraries and other institutions in the United States and Europe.
