News van parking at UCLA


For journalists covering events and news conferences at various campus locations, the listings and maps below offer possible parking options for news vans and satellite trucks.
 
Important note: These are only potential locations. Final parking arrangements are subject to approval by the campus fire marshal and parking services. Any vehicles parked on red curbs, in posted fire lanes or next to fire hydrants without prior authorization are subject to ticketing and towing.
 
News crews are advised to contact UCLA Media Relations and Public Outreach at 310-825-2585 to finalize parking arrangements before coming to campus. For medical center or health sciences events, please contact UCLA Health Sciences Media Relations at 310-794-0777.
 
 
Campus locations and parking options:
 
James West Alumni Center | Ackerman Student Union [map]
 
• James West Center turnaround, white curb only (6–8 spaces)
 
• Structure 8 rooftop (5,000-lb and 8'3" limit; varies with pay-by-space availability)
 
• Portola Plaza loading zones at rear of Ackerman Union (3–4 spaces)
 
 
Covel Commons | Northwest Auditorium [map]
 
(Construction scheduled through 2013)
 
• East curb of Young Drive West, south of De Neve (6 spaces)
 
• Lot 11 (varies with pay-by-space availability)
 
• Young Drive North bus cut-out, north of intramural fields
   (8–10 spaces; trees may obstruct antennas)
 
• Acacia (4 metered spaces on east curb in front of Dykstra Commons)
 
 
Murphy Hall [map]
 
• Portola Plaza and Dickson Court loading zones and metered parking
 
• Pay-by-space parking on Charles E. Young Drive East, east of Murphy Hall and the law school
 
 
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center emergency room [map]
 
 
• Yellow curb on the east side of northbound Gayley, south of Charles E. Young Drive South
   (7–9 spaces; no parking on campus roadways east of the grassy knoll)

• Medical Plaza turnaround, north side only
 
• If turnaround parking is unavailable, campus may close southbound lane of Westwood
   Plaza, south of Medical Plaza, and allow curb parking (8–10 spaces)

• Stein Plaza turnaround in front of the NPI and Jules Stein Eye Institute
   (8–10 spaces; trees may obstruct some antennas)
