Rosina Becerra named vice provost for faculty diversity and development

Rosina M. Becerra
Rosina Becerra, formerly the UCLA associate vice chancellor for faculty diversity, has been appointed to the newly created position of vice provost for faculty diversity and development. Becerra will advise Chancellor Gene Block and Acting Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh on faculty diversity efforts.

"In this capacity, she will work closely with Chancellor Block and me to assign more visibility and centrality to faculty diversity issues," Waugh said in an announcement sent to campus leaders.

In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Becerra is a professor of social welfare and policy studies at the School of Public Affairs. Her research focuses on policy issues related to children and families.

Since coming to UCLA in 1975, Becerra has also served as dean of the School of Social Welfare, chair of the department of Chicana and Chicano studies, director of the Center for Child and Family Policy Research, and acting director of the Institute for Industrial Relations.
