United Press International reported Thursday on recent UCLA research that found evidence of the brain plaques and tangles characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease in the brain of a deceased chimpanzee. Daniel Geschwind, UCLA professor of neurology and psychiatry; Giovanni Coppola, UCLA assistant adjunct professor of neurology; and Jeremy Davis-Turak, UCLA senior research associate in neurology, were involved in the research, along with scientists at Emory University.
