Global Warming Threatens Tropical Species
Research by Curtis Deutsch, UCLA assistant professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences, and colleagues that found that even a modest increase in global warming is likely to negatively affect the health of organisms in tropical regions was featured today by United Press International, BBC News, the Independent (U.K.) and New Scientist magazine and Monday by Reuters, the Associated Press, MSNBC, Agence-France Presse, LiveScience, China’s Xinhua News and other media outlets. Deutsch was quoted in the coverage.
 
U.S. Hospitals Not Prepared for Major Disaster
The Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Daily Breeze report today on the testimony of Dr. Roger Lewis, professor-in-residence of emergency medicine at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, before a congressional committee examining emergency room preparedness in the event of a major disaster or terrorist attack. Reuters and USA Today covered the story Monday. Lewis was quoted.
