$10 Million Gift to UCLA Finance Center
The Associated Press reported Thursday, and Australia’s Financial Standard reports today, on Laurence and Lori Fink’s $10 million gift to the UCLA Anderson School of Management to provide funding for the school’s center for finance. In recognition of the gift, the center will be renamed the Laurence D. and Lori W. Fink Center for Finance and Investments.
 
Prof Urges Crackdown on Tainted Drugs
Today’s Baltimore Sun features a column by Claire Panosian Dunavan, clinical professor of infectious diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, about the global crisis of tainted and counterfeit drugs.

Brain Cancer Survivor Gives Back
The Huntington Beach Independent reported Thursday on a patient who participated in a UCLA brain cancer vaccine program led by Dr. Linda Liau, professor of neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a researcher at UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center. The patient, whose brain tumor has disappeared, walks each year to raise money for the program.
